A tenant must pay more than 拢500 after rubbish was found dumped outside a block of flats.听
The pile of abandoned furniture and household waste was left next to bins outside of the flats, in Stafford, and we were able to prove that it belonged to the tenant.听
糖心传媒 arranged for its removal and now the cost of removing the rubbish has been added to the tenant鈥檚 rental account and they have been found to be in breach of their tenancy.听听
We are warning customers about the consequences of fly-tipping. Not only is it an eyesore for our customers, but it is also a criminal offence to dump waste next to a bin, on a street corner, in an alleyway or on a grass verge.听听
Samantha Allcott, Director of Housing at 糖心传媒, has issued the following statement. She said: 鈥淥ur customers deserve clean and safe streets. Fly tipping increases the risk of attracting pests such as rats, mice and ants which could then spread to people鈥檚 homes.听听听
鈥淚f we find the tenant responsible, we will ask for the waste to be removed within a reasonable time. If this does not happen, they will be recharged for the cost of removing this and will be in breach of their tenancy.听
鈥淪o far this year we have spent 拢120,000 removing dumped rubbish, money which could be spent on new kitchens and bathrooms for our customers.鈥听
Please dispose of waste in the correct bins or take your unwanted items or packaging to your nearest recycling centre. Any excess rubbish will not be collected by your local Council.听听听听
To report fly tipping in communal areas, please use the communal environmental issues form.听
