Wren House, the latest Housing Plus Group聽flagship聽development close to the centre of Stafford will soon welcome its first residents.
Before then our development team, which worked with partners to bring the ambitious project to聽completion despite all the challenges imposed by the pandemic, invited chief executive Sarah Boden to take a look around the impressive building.
Sarah was joined by Executive director of housing聽and care, Les Clarke, to see some of the stunning apartments and shared facilities in Wren House. The new building is providing 80 one and two-bedroomed apartments for affordable rent by people aged 55+. It聽will be managed by Housing Plus Group鈥檚 care company, Care Plus.
Kerry Bolister, who is director of development at Housing Plus Group, described the satisfaction of seeing Wren House almost ready to be occupied:
鈥淲ith the final safety checks and finishing touches to conclude, it is incredibly rewarding to see the building as it will be enjoyed by residents very soon.
鈥淲ren House has been a significant project for our Group. Our development team, along with our partners聽Barnfield聽Construction and project managers PDW, have successfully brought the building to completion in what have been uniquely difficult circumstances for the construction sector. It was a pleasure to show Sarah and Les the great results of their hard work.鈥
Sarah Boden had been聽asked to name the retirement living community and chose Wren House in tribute to one of her favourite garden birds. She said that she was delighted to visit the development: 鈥淚鈥檓 very proud of everything that has been achieved here. It is a beautiful building that has transformed one of the main gateways into Stafford town centre and it is going to be a great place to live.
Wren House is helping to fulfil a key objective for our Group, providing more good quality homes to meet the housing needs of people living in Staffordshire and Shropshire. Our aim is to start to build 2,000 new homes by 2023.
